Sora for reading!

Sora is ready for you and your students!  This option is available to create an experience similar to going to the library. And there are some great titles in there!  I just might have to carve out some time for enjoyment reading myself!

The expectation from Helen

We encourage each student to have one book checked out at all times for independent reading (just like when our site libraries are physically open). Please add a student expectation to your asynchronous plans that includes regular use of the SORAS Reading App/website for Students. It works well as a support for both Daily Five and Accelerated Reader Programs.

It is worth noting that we are starting with very simple features.  Students may select one book at a time.  They are able to preview a bit of the book to see if they are interested before they borrow it.  Just like at the library. At this time, students can borrow 30 books and 15 audio books per month.

1.Open the SORA app on the student iPad 
2. Open App - it will prompt you to "pick your school" - click on Hueneme Elementary School District
3. Choose log in with Clever and it will prompt you to put in your username and password - use 300 id number for both.

How many times have you thought of the things you are not?  I do it more often than I wish I did. So, as I keep wresting with the most efficient way to get answers and share resources, a blog seems to be the thing that makes the most sense.  Sending tech newsletters is good, but it is hard to refer back to.  Answering emails is great, but that means helping one person at a time. Sometimes that is necessary, and I do love email, but maybe pointing you to a blog post will help get all the info you need efficiently-- without the email back and forth conversation. But.... I'm not a blogger.  Yet.  Darn that growth mindset... So, here is my suggestion--- subscribe to the blog and you will get emails when I put up a post.  I promise I will make the post titles clear and not fancy so you will know if it is useful to your or not.  If it is, read it!  If it isn't, delete the email and move on.   Do I know how you subscribe to the blog?  Nope!  Because I'm not a blogger.... right?

Howdy!  It seemed like such a cool idea to have a quick comparison of Google Meet and Zoom, and then I realized it is a lot to get my head around! There are so many possibilities and I don't have all the answers.  But I know, between us, we probably have plenty of good ideas and experiences.  So, here are the slides as a starting point. Seesaw Automation and Archiving Classes August 2020

If you are a teacher who used Seesaw in the spring of 2020, how much did you learn to love Seesaw?  If you hadn't used it before, you surely saw it's value in distance learning times!  A few details to share, and this seemed like the easiest way.  I hope this helps.
